STORIED is a general-interest magazine (web and print) for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We focus on feature stories only, carving a niche for ourselves outside of traditional news reporting or alumni magazine content. The ethos of STORIED is based on three goals: captivate, educate, and inspire. We want to grab people’s attention, perhaps reveal something to them they never knew, and inspire both their pride and their continued connection to Illinois.

-Editorial design is largely about flow, and how to help a reader discover content in the order and manner you want them to. It’s a little bit like planning a movie. What journey do you want the reader to go on? What is the pacing of the information and visuals?

"editorial design is a real craft. and you have to be very practiced in typography and you have to learn about grid systems, pacing, and the combination of words and pictures and how to make something flow. like making a movie.
